I've seen that bear maybe half a dozen times since then....TWICE today! This evening he was across the street, skulking about in a stand of trees. When the coast was clear, he ambled down to the road, where my neighbor had placed his trash can for tomorrow's pickup. He had it opened in inside of 20 seconds, grabbed a bag, and dragged it back to the woods. Sadly, a big reason they come by the neighborhood is because they smell the "good eats" in trash cans.

wow! and to think we walked in that exact spot. it was amusing to hear all the young,excited voices in the background. Friends with little ones?
